Abamectin — Usage

1. Bio-pesticides
Abamectin is a 16-membered ring macrolide compound first developed by Kitasato University (Japan) and Merck Company (United States). It exhibits insecticidal, acaricidal, and nematicidal activity. Abamectin is produced via fermentation of Streptomyces avermitilis. Natural abamectin consists of eight components: four major components—A1a, A2a, B1a, and B2a—with a total content of ≥80%; and four minor components—A1b, A2b, B1b, and B2b—with a total content of ≤20%. Currently marketed abamectin pesticide uses abamectin as the main insecticidal active ingredient (abamectin B1a + B1b), where B1a is not less than 90% and B1b is less than 5%. It is standardized based on the B1a content.

Abamectin is currently produced by dozens of companies in China. The commercially available abamectin product series includes abamectin, ivermectin, and emamectin benzoate. Abamectin is one of the most popular and highly competitive novel biological pesticides in the current bio-pesticide market.

2. Anti-parasitic drugs
For the treatment of various nematodes, ticks, mites, fleas, lice, and flies in horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, dogs, cats, and other poultry, both in vivo and in vitro.
